LapLink Inc., the leading file-transfer and synchronization software developer, today removed the "Dot-com" from its name, changing its corporate identity and Web Site. With its new name, LapLink leverages its industry-wide name recognition as the complete file transfer and synchronization provider with a packaged software and hardware solution. The new corporate identity will now be reflected in all of the company's business collateral, including its products, starting with yesterday's launch of PCsync 2.0. LapLink's new identity can be viewed immediately on its newly redesigned Web Site at www.laplink.com. "In a moment of weakness, we succumbed to the 'dot-com' frenzy," says Mark Eppley, Founder and CEO of LapLink. "With a solid business in place for over 18 years and over 7 million customers world-wide, we are looking forward and focusing our efforts on our core competency, that of building industry leading file transfer and synchronization products. Our new PCsync version 2.0 is the first of many exciting and groundbreaking products that LapLink will ship this year." Prior to changing its name to "LapLink.com" in September 1999, the company operated for over 16 years as Traveling Software, Inc. The LapLink brand identity, with over 20 million people estimated worldwide having familiarity with it, was a natural evolution. Today's new logo and color scheme communicates the movement and sharing that is inherent in file transfer and synchronization."We wanted to update our new corporate identity to reflect the direction of our company and build upon our strong name recognition in the industry," says Deanna Garcia, Director of Marketing for LapLink. "This new design is easily recognizable and succinctly communicates who we are." The company also redesigned its Web Site to incorporate its new company identity. The site is now designed for easier navigation with an impacting front page and streamlined navigation bar. Customers can find information about new products and purchase with fewer clicks of the mouse.
For more than 25 years, Laplink has been the leader in providing software used for PC migration, remote access, file transfer, and synchronization. The privately-held company was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington.
