Why am I unable to see the tabs or split window in a ShareDirect folder after upgrading my version of Windows?

Answer

The upgrade to the newer version of Windows has caused portions of the registry to be re-loaded and certain files that are required by ShareDirect are no longer registered. The simplest way to re-register them is to reinstall ShareDirect. In order to do this, follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall Laplink ShareDirect using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
    • When asked to completely remove the application, click on Yes
    • When asked if you wish to remove all ShareDirect configuration files, folder mappings, and account information, leave it on the default option – Do not remove (Recommended)
  2. Reboot the computer
  3. Reinstall Laplink ShareDirect
